Our Story
Melrose And Market® was founded by Susan McGalla and Kathryn Bukuinicki, two fashion executives who saw an opportunity to shake up retail. After successful careers at major clothing companies, they partnered to launch a new kind of brand focused solely on delivering incredible value without sacrificing style or quality. The name “Melrose and Market” was chosen as a nod to the famous Melrose shopping district in Los Angeles and the fashion markets in New York City that inspire our collections. After securing investment backing in 2012, the first Melrose And Market® store opened in 2013 at South Hills Village mall in Pittsburgh, PA. We set out to offer of-the-moment fashion at irresistible prices while fostering a welcoming, personalized shopping experience. The response from customers was tremendous, and we expanded quickly over the next several years.
Growth & Expansion
By the end of 2015, Melrose And Market® operated 17 retail locations across the United States. Buoyed by our success, we accelerated expansion by opening an additional 20 stores in 2016 alone. In just a few short years, we’ve grown from a single location to a nationwide fashion brand. Even better, our low prices and constantly changing assortment keep customers coming back. In fact, Melrose And Market® enjoys an impressive 50% sales conversion rate—5 times higher than the industry average. We attribute this to our knack for giving shoppers exactly what they want at irresistible prices. In 2018, Melrose And Market® went digital with the launch of our full e-commerce website. Now customers can shop our latest arrivals conveniently online. The new e-commerce portal has expanded our reach even further across the country.
